Description

What makes this guitar special: An early model JEM with the classic Vai aesthetic-a gorgeous gold on white motif delicately balanced against a lightning fast ebony fingerboard inlaid with a pearl vine of life and sporting the signature monkey handle. This one is sturdy as can be, with a one piece quartersawn maple neck that is built to withstand the abuse of a Floyd Rose locking tremolo system. The previous owner went to the trouble of installing a Tremol-No system, transforming this one into a hardtail (a completely reversible process) and ensuring restrings that aren’t a total headache. It’s been professionally inspected and setup by our top-notch in house luthiers, and will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: Great shape for its age, with some standard playwear throughout. Various nicks, dings, dents, scratches, scuffs, and chips throughout, with some staining in the maple on the back of the neck. This one has obviously been played, but maintained a lot of its cosmetic integrity despite being shredded on for years. Frets show some wear, but have a good deal of life left in them. Fingerboard shows a bit of wear as well, but nothing that hinders playability.

Body: Solid, contoured alder body in white finish with monkey handle, Floyd Rose tremolo bridge, and 3-ply pearloid pickguard.

Weight: 7 lb, 11.6 oz

Neck: Slim, quartersawn one-piece maple neck with white side dots and pearloid vine-of-life inlay. Locking nut measures 1 11/16”. 25 1/2" scale length. Frets 21-24 are factory scalloped for effortless maneuverability in the upper register. White headstock overlay with gold Ibanez logo and gold Gotoh tuners in perfect working condition. Neck is straight and truss rod works as it should.

Electronics: Original DiMarzio electronics in HSH configuration with 5-way pickup selector switch and skirted white knobs, 1x volume, 1x tone.

Case: Unoriginal SKB deluxe hardshell case included.
