Description: 2010 Hofner 500/1 '64 Vintage Reissue violin bass, made in Germany. Featuring a slim profile neck & white celluloid neck binding that distinguish the V64 from other German made Hofner violin basses. The lightweight fully hollow body is sure to be appreciated after long nights of playing! This particular piece is in excellent shape, with very few signs of playwear. This bass comes professionally setup by the experts at Cream City Music, so you know it will arrive ready to play.
Cosmetic Condition: Excellent condition overall with some light surface scratches, light lacquer checking, and mild buckle rash. The bass has several signatures on the top, written in black marker. Most of them are difficult to read in full, but one of them says "Little Steven was here." Unfortunately there is no provenance as to the nature of the signatures, but we were informed by the previous owner it was used in a movie & was signed by the actors.
Neck: Flame Maple/Beech/Flame Maple with white binding & black side-dots. Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with no visible wear. Open-back tuners with pearloid buttons in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 30" scale length.
Body: Violin-shaped hollow body in sunburst finish. Spruce top with flame maple back & sides. Trapeze tailpiece with adjustable fretted ebony bridge & pearloid pickguard.
Electronics: Hofner humbuckers with 'tea cup' volume knobs; rhythm/solo, bass & treble switches - all in perfect working condition.
Playability / Sound: Nice, low action; smooth playing neck - very comfortable; classic Hofner tones!
