Description

What makes this guitar special: Another magnificent piece from the highly-discerning collection of G.E. Smith. A guitar with more than 100 years of stories to tell, with a terrific sound and a full voice. Beautifully hand-appointed with intricate inlays and sporting an honest patina. A Brazilian Rosewood back and sides provide a fantastic tonal balance with fabulous resonance, and the spruce top projects beautifully. If you’re a fingerstyle player, you don’t want to let this rare bird slip away. Professionally inspected by our expert in-house luthier staff, and setup with fresh strings and low action (and in this case, a fresh bone saddle).

Cosmetic condition: Great overall condition, with some expected wear for a guitar this age. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with visible finish checking throughout the entire guitar. There are a couple repaired crack on the bass side of the top, and a crack along the center of the bridge has been repaired as well. The binding around the soundhole has been reglued, and there is notable chipping in the wood on top of the headstock. There are numerous areas of finish wear and oxidation on the hardware. A previous owner lightly scratched their name and address into the finish on the back of the guitar, and there is some seam separation along the back as well.

Body: Double bound solid Brazilian Rosewood back & sides with bound spruce top in natural finish. Hand-inlaid purfling and multi-ring rosette. Bound soundhole and snowflake inlaid ebony bridge with white bridge pins. Freshly cut bone saddle. Lower bout width measures 14” with 4” depth. Upper bout width measures 10” with 3 5/8” depth.

Weight: 3 lb, 9.6 oz

Neck: Chunky V-shaped mahogany neck with bound ebony fingerboard. Slotted square, diamond, circle * fleur de lis pearl inlays. 2” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Bound slotted headstock with pearl vine inlay and small diamond inlay. Three-to-a-side tuners work great. Original frets show wear but still have life in them. Neck is straight and plays nicely up and down the length of the fingerboard.

Case: Original hard shell case included. Case shows some wear, but the handle is still intact.
