The xtSA is the most affordable guitar Godin offers that features a 3 voice design with synth access circuitry. The xtSA is a wonderfully versatile guitar that can be wired up many different ways through 3 independent outputs, or you can mix the acoustic and electric sounds onboard the guitar to send the signal through one cable. Of course, you can simply plug the guitar into a great amp, turn up the volume and play! However you hook up the xtSA it sounds excellent and plays great. The neck is slender but not too thin and the ebony fretboard has a relatively flat radius. The sound from the "acoustic" output is lively and percussive and can be a very useful alternate voice to use on its own, or mixed in with the magnetic pickups or synth. The mag pickups are really nice and the H/S/H configuration is quite versatile offering wide range of tones from mellow jazz to high gain rock. When it comes to features and quality, you'll be hard pressed to find a better value then the xtSA. The guitar is very similar to Godin's high end synth access guitar the LGXT but has a flat top and different magnetic pickups. The electronics that Godin uses in their synth access guitars is widely considered to be the best for tracking, sensitivity, and integration into the guitars existing electronics. About the xtSA: A jack-of-all-trades, and master of all of them, the xtSA's incredible sound power begins with three distinct voices: electric guitar, acoustic guitar and synth controller. The xtSA delivers big time electric sounds via the Godin humbucker-single-humbucker pickup configuration and thanks to a special 5-way switch setup extra meaty humbucker tones co-exist with glassy split-coil sounds in the second and forth position. Turn down the electric output and raise the volume on the RMC transducer saddles and the xtSA becomes an incredibly authentic-sounding 'acoustic' guitar. The acoustic voice of the xtSA is enhanced by an onboard preamp with a three-way graphic EQ. The two outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended in the guitar using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer using both outputs. The icing on the xtSA cake comes in the form of its synth tracking, which simply put, is the best in the business. As with all of Godin synth-ready instruments, a built-in 13-pin connector provides direct access to all Roland GR-Series synths as well as most other 13-pin devices. All of this sound power would be a lot less interesting if the guitar didn't feel great and great is exactly how the xtSA feels thanks to the same 25½" scale, mahogany neck used on the Godin flagship LGX-SA guitar. The ebony fingerboard is shaped with Godin's ergocut technique and equipped with medium jumbo frets. The body is made from a silverleaf maple center with poplar wings and decorated with a figured maple veneer on top.
