The S8 utilizes a solid sitka spruce top over a laminated maple body for well-rounded tone with excellent mid to high range definition, making it a fantastic overall combination for getting the best possible mandolin tone. A tusq nut and saddle are excellent additions that enhance the mandolin's playability, and its maple neck is incredibly smooth to navigate. With its semi-gloss finish, the S8 feels smooth all around, and appointments such as a tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard and a warm, woody aesthetic give it tremendous looks to match its sound and feel.
