Description

Condition: This is a great sounding archtop with tons of vintage appeal and excellent playability. Our master luthier performed several repairs on this guitar and the end result is a great playing instrument with a gorgeous look and sound. There is a large repaired crack running from the bass side shoulder, through the neck heel and down the treble side shoulder to the waist. Other repairs include a side crack on the lower treble side and several along the f-holes all of which were glued and cleated by our luthier. He replaced a couple of inlays at the 7th and 9th frets and repaired some separation between the back and sides on the bottom. The D string tuning machine has been replaced. There is a repaired crack down the center seam on top which is holding together fine. The previous owner used black paint to try and hide some of the original repairs. There is a small rosewood plug at the 14th fret as part of an older repair. There is a hump in the neck where it meets the body; the neck is otherwise very straight and comfortable. There are a couple tiny cracks in the fingerboard. Truss rod functions fine. There are plenty of scratches, nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the instrument; many have worn through to the bare wood.

Body: Double-bound body with an arched Spruce top, maple sides and flamed maple back in sunburst finish. The binding has acquired a gorgeous patina. Trapeze tailpiece, height-adjustable compensated rosewood bridge and dual f-holes. Pickguard and endpin are missing.

Neck: Nicely rounded flame maple with some gorgeous figuring. Bound rosewood fingerboard with split pearloid inlays and a 1 ¾” scale length. Bound headstock features pearloid Gibson logo and center inlay. Open-gear nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons; D string machine is replaced. 25.5” scale length.

Weight: 5lbs, 7.3oz.

Playability/Sound: This archtop delivers a warm sound with nicely defined lows, mids and highs thanks to the work performed on it. The action is exceptionally comfortable and suitable for virtually any playing style.

Case: Includes unoriginal newer model hardshell case.
