Description

What makes this guitar special: This one looks to have been well-loved, and then put away for a long spell. It shows all kinds of good honest playwear throughout, but hasn’t been abused, and sports no cracks or breaks of any kind. This one is a bit of a rarity in that most L-48’s after ’57 feature a mahogany back, unlike this one which sports a nicely figured maple back. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is super comfortable, which in tandem with the semi-chunky mahogany neck makes it a breeze to play. Professionally setup and inspected by the experts at Cream City Music, this piece will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Used but not abused! This one was clearly someone’s go-to, and showcases plenty of scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, scuffs, and areas of finish wear, with tarnishing on much of the hardware. The D and G string tuners are bent, but still function. Fingerboard shows visible pitting, but nothing that hinders playability, and the neck has been refretted. Overall, this one has a terrific player’s look to it, with a gorgeous patina.

Body: Double bound mahogany top and sides, with maple back in sunburst finish. Compensated rosewood bridge with rosewood base and original nickel trapeze tailpiece. Original single ply plexi tortoise pickguard. Guard is a little loose but still functions fine, with no warping.

Weight: 5 lb, 4 oz

Neck: Semi-chunky C shaped mahogany neck with aged white side dots and pearl dot inlays. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Gold silk-screened Gibson logo and Kluson strip tuners in full working order. Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in good shape overall, with some pitting but nothing that affects playability. Neck has been refretted, and frets have a ton of life left in them. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
