Product Description

What makes this guitar special:  Despite its less than desirable appearance, this is a marvelous sounding guitar with an exquisite sonic texture, full of warm, rich tones & a powerful voice that seems to sustain for days.  Nicely balanced lows & highs with superb sound projection, this gorgeous Hummingbird has it all!  A true road warrior that's seen its fair share of action & is now looking for a new home.  Don't miss out on a great opportunity to own a wonderful piece of Gibson acoustic history.

Cosmetic Condition:  Dynamite vintage mojo with good honest play wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear.  There are various cracks in the top & back of the body; some have been repaired, others not.  The cracks in the back were repaired quite some time ago with glue & lots of cleats (see photos).  The crack in the middle of the top was repaired recently by our tech.  The two cracks in the top near the treble & bass waists were not repaired, but are over the internal braces & are stable so we left them alone.  Our luthier glued & cleated a crack near where the neck meets the soundhole on the treble side.  Typically when you see a guitar like this with lots of wear & tear it's usually because it's a great player & someone's favorite "go to" guitar.  This Hummingbird has that vibe & possesses a voice that loves to sing!

Neck:  Medium profile, rounded mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots.  Beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl split parallelogram inlays.  Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them.  Gold Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition.  Some of the gold has tarnished over the years, but the tuners look great with nice vintage charm.  1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length.  Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard.

Body:  Square shoulder dreadnought in natural finish.  Solid spruce top with 7-ply binding.  Unoriginal ebony bridge with cream end pins.  Original tortoise pickguard with gold Hummingbird motif.  Multi-ring rosette.  The orange oval label inside the body was torn & there's a portion that's missing.  Solid mahogany back & sides with finished in cherry with 5-ply binding.  The neck strap button & end pin are after-market.  There is no pickup & the guitar weighs 4 lbs 10.8 oz.

Case:  Unoriginal hardshell case included.
