Description

Condition: This is a great sounding Astro Jet with an authentic vintage look and feel. Plenty of scratches, nicks, dings, dents, chips and heavy weather checking give this guitar tons of character! There is a slight hazing on the back but this is not highly visible. There is some finish cracking and a small amount of separation on the neck heel seam. There is no movement whatsoever and the neck angle is fine. There is a routed area on the inside of the body cavity. This is hidden completely by the pickguard and does not affect playability or sound. The neck pickup cavity has been routed a small amount to allow the pickup to sit lower. The neck has a slight bow around the 12th fret mostly on the bass side. The action is slightly high around the 12th fret yet still very comfortable. The fingerboard and frets show moderate play wear with heavier play wear towards the lower registers. Truss rod functions fine. The nut has been re-glued and was placed slightly off center with some visible excess glue. Top of the truss rod cover is chipped and the low E string tuning machine has been replaced. All electronics and parts are in excellent working condition.

Body: Solid mahogany body in a two-tone finish with a red top and black back. Burns vibrato tailpiece, tension bar and space-roller bridge. Gretsch Arrow control knobs, black toggle switches, a single-ply black pickguard and a Gretsch Adtro-Jet metal plaque.

Neck: Nicely rounded set mahogany neck with a bound Ebony fingerboard, Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, a zero-fret and a 1 11/16” nut. Four-and-two-headstock with open-gear nickel tuners, 24.5” scale length.

Pickups/Electronics: DeArmond Hi-Lo Tron pickups in the neck and bridge with dual volume controls, master volume control, 3-way pickup selector switch, 3-way tone switch and a 3-way bypass switch.

Neck: 4.45K Ohms.

Bridge: 4.47K Ohms.

Weight: 10lbs, 5.0oz.

Playability/Sound: This is a rare vintage Gretsch with an awesome vintage vibe! The pickups are highly versatile and work great with the tone switch to get anything from a very warm sound ideal for Jazz to a bright tone and anywhere in between. The vibrato tailpiece works great and offers both great function and visual appeal to the guitar.

Case: Includes original hardshell case in good overall shape. The back and side are separating at the bottom but the case is holding together fine.
