Description

What makes this guitar special: If you’ve ever wondered what a D-28 would look like if Gibson built it-here you go. This is guitar is quite rare, built by hand in the early days of Gibson Montana, with a solid Indian Rosewood back & sides, and solid Sitka Spruce top. The fit & finish is spectacular, and the solid wood construction affords magnificent projection and resonance. Built for only one year, the B-28 was built alongside the B-SJ (Southern Jumbo) under the Blueridge moniker. In terms of specifications, these share very little other than a name with their vintage counterparts. This piece has definitely been played over the years, but has a great vibe with an honest look. It has been professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Cosmetic condition: Good honest wear-visible scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs, with visible finish checking throughout the entire instrument. The original tuners have been replaced with chrome-sealed Ping tuners. There is some scratching in the wood on the first fret of the fingerboard, some chipping in the finish on the treble side of the neck joint, and there is visible tarnishing on the hardware.

Body: Double bound solid rosewood back & sides with solid Sitka Spruce top in natural finish. 5-ply B/W purfling with multi-ring B/W rosette. Ebony bridge with black bridge pins, and tortoise pickguard. 15 3/4" lower bout width, 4 3/4" depth.

Weight: 4 lb, 14.4 oz

Neck: Medium-thin oval shaped mahogany neck with pearl side dots and pearl dot inlays. Dark rosewood fingerboard is in great shape, with just some scratching in the first fret, and while frets show wear they still have quite a bit of life left in them. 1 3/4” nut width, 25.4” scale length. Narrow peghead with gold Gibson logo and Blue Ridge truss rod cover. Unoriginal Ping tuners work great. Neck is straight and truss rod is fully functional.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
