Description

What makes this guitar special: A killer vintage Gibson from head to toe, this J-50 ADJ is perfectly broken in from every perspective. Tonally, it has a perfectly compressed low end that allows it to have a good amount of push and power without overwhelming the rest of the dynamic range. Its midrange is nice and warm with great upper range punch and sweet, open, and crisp top end. Aesthetically, it has a tenured look to show that it was well-loved and played often, but not abused by any means. Outside of its finish checking and light wear, it’s still in great shape for its age and still looks, plays, and sounds as sweet as ever.

Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It shows only minor nicks, dings, dents, chips, scuffs, scratches and finish checking throughout, but is still in fantastic shape for a guitar that’s nearly 50 years old. The frets show light wear and the fingerboard itself shows mild wear, with grooves worked into the first four frets, but both still play just fine and still have a ton of life and playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Slope shoulder double-bound body with mahogany back and sides and a spruce top in Natural finish. Dual-ring rosette. Single-ply large tortoiseshell pickguard. Rosewood bridge and adjustable rosewood saddle with white bridge pins.

Neck: Slim to medium depth mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. 3-per-side Kluson Deluxe tuning machines. 1 9/16” nut width. 24.75” scale. .82” deep at the 1st fret and 1.17” deep at the 12th.

Electronics: Aftermarket LR Baggs pickup with endpin-mounted jack.

Weight: 4 lbs 11 oz

Playability/Sound: The smaller, slimmer neck on this guitar plays very easily, offers extended reach over the fingerboard, and its shape should be familiar and comfortable to a wide variety of players. Its overall tone is nice and warm with a perfectly compressed low end that still has power without being too overwhelming, a rich midrange that has equal amounts of warmth and punch, and the top end is sweet and crisp with great articulation.

Case: Includes hardshell case.
