What makes this guitar special: 100% original & just recently acquired from the second owner who purchased the guitar from the original owner back in 1974. Since then it was played sparingly & shows typical light play wear. The neck profile is perfect & is very comfortable to play, even for hours on end. The solid mahogany body resonates magnificently & the pair of Pat No humbuckers deliver warm, rich tones that seem to sustain for days. Simply put, this is an amazing Les Paul Custom with an ultra cool vintage vibe & a definite must-have for any serious collector or player.
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused with good honest play wear & in really great shape for its age - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, light buckle rash & some mild tarnishing on the gold hardware. No cracks, breaks or repairs. Overall the guitar has a wonderful look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Medium-profile mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Original small frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. The guitar is truly a fretless wonder. Kluson "waffle-back" tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid mahogany body with maple top. Stopbar tailpiece & ABR-1 bridge with white nylon saddles. 5-ply black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. However, when we looked at the guitar under black light we noticed a ghosting imprint of the name MEL on the pickguard. It cannot be seen in normal light so it's likely some decals were on the pickguard quite some time ago. The guitar weighs 10.35 lbs.
Pickups: Gibson Pat No. humbuckers with black bezels. Bridge - 7.46K ohms; Neck - 7.42K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with black "witch hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All electronics are original & in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The interior strap disconnected from the lid, but is still inside the case.
