Description
Picking the best quality components in a boutique overdrive pedal is often subjective, so for 1981 Inventions' first pedal, the DRV No3, they produced an overdrive simply made up of their favorite components. A labor of love for three years, as a collaboration with Jon Ashley of Bondi effects, this pedal brings straightforward, streamlined design and sonically rich gain. There are two circuits in the pedal, one being a distortion and the other being a preamp boost, which runs internally at 18V. It has a decidedly warm sound, with a solid midrange punch and an overall tone that sounds especially great in low-gain settings. This gives the DRV No3 the vibe of a vintage overdrive, but can easily be contoured via its Drive, Cut, and Volume controls to produce more contemporary sounds. This is a fantastic boutique overdrive pedal with an exceptionally cool design, and has quickly become a favorite around the shop!
