Description

What Makes This Bass Special: Conceived in Canada by luthier Russ Heinl and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Signature Handmade guitars and basses was a short lived, high quality, and little known company. Beginning in Canada and moved to Cranston, Rhode Island, these high-end instruments were made of excellent woods, components, and as the name says- by hand. This particular Jazz model is, of course, a nod to Rush bassist Geddy Lee; who is also believed to have been an investor in the company. It features a bound maple fingerboard and the block inlays associated with the bass legend. The neck has been quartersawn and has some very nice figuring in it. The string thru bridge design was created to produce as much sustain as possible and is regarded as a complete success. The previous owner has replaced the original pickups with an MEC passive Jazz set (as found in Warwicks) as well as putting a set of open geared Hipshot tuning machines on. This is a very interesting and special bass with a great history. Arriving with a pro set-up by the experts at Cream City Music, you’ll be able to get acquainted with your newest 4-string from day one.

Cosmetic Condition: Light surface scratches, oxidation on the hardware, a few very small dents and dings are found around the bass, and the outside waist on the treble side has a “u” shaped split in the finish (see photos). This bass looks very good overall, especially for its age, and plays great.

Neck: Figured quartersawn maple with a maple fingerboard. Black binding, black block inlays, white side dot markers, and a single string guide. The open geared Hipshot tuners work perfectly and the 20 frets are in very good condition and have tons of life left in them. 1.5” nut width, 34” scale length. The neck is straight and the truss rod has been tested and is in proper working order.

Body: Solid contoured ash. Single ply black pickguard and black string thru bridge. Bass weighs 10.35 lbs.

Electronics: MEC Dynamic Correction passive Jazz pickups measure 7.93K ohms at the neck and 7.87K ohms in the bridge position. Individual volume and master tone controls with black knurled knobs. All electronics have been tested and are working perfectly.

Case: Cream City Music gig bag included.
