1958 was the final year of the original one-piece maple neck before Fender switched to a glued-on "slab" rosewood fingerboard, significantly changing the look, tone, and feel of their guitars. This Custom Shop is modeled after those highly sought-after '58 Stratocasters, and it's perfect for vintage Strat lovers.
A two-piece select alder body gives this guitar a bright spankin' tone with excellent sustain, a sharp attack, and punchy upper mids. Its one-piece quartersawn maple neck sports a comfortable '54-style "soft V" profile, a 9.5 fingerboard radius, and 21 narrow tall frets, and it plays wonderfully in all registers. Players who love well-worn guitars will appreciate this Strat's gorgeous relic job, which features finish checking, scars, dings, and dents, all of which provide plenty of personality.
Custom Shop hand-wound Fat '50s pickups (with a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup) give this axe a rich vintage sound with deep lows and chiming highs, making it perfect for a wide range of styles and settings. These pickups are connected to Vintage Modified #2 wiring with a Tone-Saver bleed circuit and five-way switching, giving it a thick, balanced tone at any volume.
Complete with a single-ply eggshell pickguard, a Custom Shop vintage synchronized tremolo, vintage-style tuning machines, and a wing string tree, this Custom Shop 1958 Stratocaster is excellent for players seeking a masterfully-built vintage-inspired Strat.
