This new design would feature a sleek mahogany body with double cutaways, an all-new Gibson vibrato, and a 'fretless wonder' neck that was incredibly quick and playable. These features would instantly cement the SG as the go-to guitar for rock and roll around the globe.
This Gibson Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 1961 SG Les Paul Standard is a faithful recreation of the very first SG to ever leave the Gibson factory. Built with a contoured 1-piece solid mahogany body, this SG looks gorgeous and has a surprisingly rich tone even when unplugged. Like all SG's, this guitar features sculpted double cutaways that allow for easy access to all 22 authentic medium jumbo frets. The neck on this Gibson is made from solid mahogany and has an Authentic '61 thin neck profile, giving it an excellent in-hand feel that lends itself to fast-playing and riffing. It also sports a gorgeous Indian rosewood fretboard, bringing clarity and sweetness to each note you play.
