This is the all new Vintage Select Edition G6118T-60 Anniversary model. The G6118 Anniversary is one of the most instantly recognizable Gretsch models with it’s distinctive two tone green finish. At it’s introduction in 1958 The Anniversary offered a guitar with many features of top of the line Chet Atkins Nashville models at a more affordable price and Gretsch has continued that tradition. Gretsch has made a few changes and added a few of features making the new G6118T-60 the most authentic Anniversary ever offered from the Professional series!
They’ve added aged body binding and aged pearloid “thumbnail” inlay set into a beautifully figured dark rosewood fretboard. The guitar features the the new TV Jones HiLo'Tron pickups, “Space Control” bar bridge, and unbound F-Holes which are all 1960 period correct appointments. The body of a G6118 Anniversary is similar to the Single Cutaway 6120 Nashville models making it a great choice for someone looking for a full size Gretsch archtop with a different cosmetic package then the ubiquitous orange. The G6118T-60 also features the same Trestle bracing found on the ’59 Chet Atkins 6120 and Setzer models. The guitar is all Pro-series Gretsch with perfect playability and neck angle and classic warm tones. The new TV Jones HiLo'Tron’s are fantastic recreations of the original Gretsch designs offering a very authentic sound and look.They have a relatively low output which yields a warm woody tone from the guitar drawing out the resonance of the arched maple top. They’ve installed the neck pickup about an inch away from the end of the fretboard, where it would have been in 1960. This changes the bass response and overtone profile from the neck pickup and gives the guitar a much more authentic look. The TV Jones Hilo’Tron’s have a dry snappy tone with vastly improved clarity and note definition. The neck pickup is deep and warm with a bit of twang and the bridge pickup is crisp and punchy. When blended together they are wired to cancel out 60 cycle hum like a Humbucking pickup and it’s very effective. We are a long standing fully authorized independent Gretsch guitar dealer.
