Description
What makes this guitar special: Very rare Duo Jet that is all original & just recently acquired from the family of the original owner. With stylish good looks & a tone that is quintessentially Gretsch, this gorgeous electric tenor is destined to make an excellent addition to any vintage guitar lover's collection. The twin DynaSonic single coils were specially designed for this guitar as there are only four pole pieces, one for each string. Classic black finish & "G" cutout tailpiece complete the package. Professionally set up by our own master luthier, so she's ready to play right out of the case!
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for being six decades old with signs of typical wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & general play wear. Overall the guitar looks marvelous with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & red side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl block inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Bound headstock with inlaid Gretsch logo. Grover open-back nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 3/16" nut width; 23" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Single-cut, chambered mahogany body in natural finish. Black, arched top with 4-ply binding. "G" cutout tailpiece with floating rosewood bridge. 4-ply cream pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. The serial number on the label inside the control cavity matches the number that's etched into the control cover. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 12.5 oz.
Pickups: Dual DynaSonic single coils with 3-way toggle switch. Master volume & tone controls along with separate volume controls for each pickup. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original tweed hardshell case included. The tweed is tattered & frayed, but the case is very sturdy & serves its purpose well. The previous owner's initials, JJ, are on the outside of the case. His name was Jimmy Judge.
