Description
Condition: This bass is overall very clean for its age. There are various surface scratches, a few small nicks and dings and a few finish cracks. There are some heavier scratches and buckle rash on the back. There are some scratches and dings throughout the neck and headstock but nothing major. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear and plenty of life left in them. There is a slight “drop off” at the 12th fret in the neck. This makes for slightly higher action towards the upper registers. The truss rod functions fine and the neck is still playable up and down the fingerboard. The bridge pickup has a particularly high ohm reading but still has plenty of output. This pickup may need to be rewound in the future but it sounds good currently. Some touch-up solder work has been done but all electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Double-bound hollow violin shaped body with spruce top and maple back and sides in sunburst finish. There is some subtle but gorgeous figuring throughout the back. Trapeze tailpiece, height-adjustable Ebony bridge with nickel saddles, pearloid control panel with cupcake knobs and three switches and a single-ply pearloid pickguard.
Neck: Nicely rounded flame maple neck with a bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dot inlays, a zero fret and a 1.5” nut. Nickel tuners with ivoroid buttons, 30” scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Hofner blade pickups in the neck and bridge positions with on/off switches for each pickup, dual volume controls and a rhythm/solo boost switch.
Neck: 6.38K Ohms.
Bridge: 286K Ohms.
Weight: 4lbs, 12.5oz.
Playability/Sound: The pickups on this bass sound excellent. The neck position offers a very full, round tone that overdrives beautifully and the bridge pickup packs plenty of high end for a nice pick attack and a sound that will cut through a mix. The slender neck is exceptionally comfortable and suitable for virtually any playing style.
Case: Includes vintage chipboard case.
