Description

What’s special about this guitar: This is a very unique and aw3esome sounding 50s Tonemaster electric guitar. This instrument features an under-saddle pickup in addition to the neck pickup along with a 3-way selector switch and three volume controls. The combination of the under-saddle pickup with the neck pickup results in some very unique sounds! Other features include a Bigsby tailpiece and a chunky round maple neck. This guitar is in good overall shape for its age and is all original!

Condition: Good overall shape for the guitar’s age! There are scratches, nicks and dings throughout the guitar with some areas of the finish worn through to the bare wood. The plastic finish covering is shrinking in a couple of areas causing a little bubbling but it is mostly fine. There is also some buckle rash on the back and much of the finish on the neck has worn through to the bare wood from normal play wear. There is some electrical tape around the cable running to the bridge pickup but the connection is healthy. The neck pickup ring is cracked in a few areas but it still functions fine. The fingerboard and frets have heavy play wear in the lower and middle registers and moderate play wear towards the higher registers. The neck is comfortable and playable currently however based on the condition of the frets this guitar may need fret work in the near future. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.

Body: Solid single-cutaway body with beveled edges in a black plastic finish covering. Bigsby tailpiece with compensated rosewood bridge. Single-ply, partially elevated white pickguard which has developed a lovely patina and features a Rhythm Tone logo in the center. Three plastic control knobs.

Neck: Nicely rounded, chunky maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck has two screws securing it to the body which can be adjusted to change the neck angle. The lower screw is partially stripped but still functions fine. Pearloid dot inlays and a 1 5/8” nut. Three-on-a-strip Kluson deluxe tuners with ivoroid buttons, 24.5” scale length.

Pickups/Electronics: Original humbucker pickup in the neck and an under-saddle pickup beneath the bridge with a 3-way selector switch and three individual volume controls; one for each pickup setting.

Neck: 8.89K Ohms.

Bridge: 6.51K Ohms.

Weight: 7lbs, 12.0oz.

Case: Includes an unoriginal chipboard case.

This guitar came to us with a great set up though it is currently setup with phosphor bronze strings. Given the pickup design, nickel strings would be ideal and the guitar can be set up with them when it sells if desired.
