Description
What makes this guitar special: A rare model that's rarely seen for sale. But in addition to that it's 100% original & was just recently acquired from the original owner whose father purchased it brand new in 1962. Unmolested, unmodified & in perfect playing condition. Classic Fireglo finish with some gorgeous birdseye figuring in the body. Professionally set up by our luthier with low action, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: Great shape for its age with typical wear from normal play - various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, light buckle rash & some finish wear, mostly on the back of the neck. No cracks, breaks or repairs. Overall the guitar has a marvelous look with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Slender profile maple neck with micro side-dots. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with cream dot inlays. There's some pitting in the fingerboard, but it's not too deep & confined to the first few frets. Frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them. Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rods are functioning.
Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings & 'cresting wave' body shape. Ac'cent tremolo tailpiece & adjustable bridge with roller saddles. Split-level white pickguard is in great shape with cracks & only mild pick scratches. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 7 oz.
Pickups: 'Toaster Top' single coils with dual volume & tone controls; boost/blend; 3-way toggle switch & mono output. Pots date to '62 & all electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. There's a minor crack in the wood near one of the clasps, but nothing too serious & all the clasps function just fine.
