Description
What makes this guitar special: A smooth, rounded neck & a pair of killer sounding P-90's make for a great combination on this non-reverse Firebird I from '65. Showing off an ultra cool vibe, the guitar radiates true vintage charm. With a warm tone & superb feel, the guitar is tons of fun to play, no matter what your playing style may be. Professionally set up by & ready to rock straight out of the case!
Cosmetic Condition: Typical wear & tear for a 50 + year old guitar - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, buckle rash & some finish wear. The pickguard has discolored over the years & a small piece has chipped off near the Firebird logo which has faded a bit. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Slender profile mahogany neck with cream side-dots. Dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets are pretty small (typical of the period) & show some wear, but there's still life in them. However, a professional refret would definitely make the guitar a better player. The original six-on-a-strip tuners were replaced with newer individual tuners, which are all in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Contoured, solid mahogany "non-reverse" body in sunburst finish. Tremolo tailpiece with compensated bridge. 3-ply white pickguard with red Firebird logo. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 4.5 oz.
Pickups: Original P-90 single coils with black "soap bar" covers. The pole screws are not original though. Bridge - 9.67K ohms; Neck - 9.04K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with gold "top hat" knobs; 3-way selector switch. Pots are original & all electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. These cases with the plaid interiors are pretty rare & highly sought-after. A small portion of the left clasp is missing, preventing it from properly locking into place. The other two clasps are fine.
