Description

What makes this guitar special:  100% original & in super clean condition for its age.  This fabulous SG Standard was just recently acquired from the family of the second owner who purchased it from the original owner back in '77.  Since then the guitar was basically kept in its case & store away.  The cherry finish is absolutely gorgeous - very strong & vibrant with no fading.  The Pat No. humbucker sound amazing - warm, rich tone with beautiful dynamics & sustain.  This guitar is a real show piece & a must have for any serious collector or player!

Cosmetic Condition:  Exceptionally clean for a 1965!  There are a few minor nicks, chips, dents & dings; light surface scratches & mild weather checking.  Overall the guitar looks fantastic for its age.

Neck:  Slim tapered mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots.  Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them.  Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays.  Kluson Deluxe tuners with "double lip" buttons in perfect working condition.  1 9/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length.  Neck is straight & truss rod is in perfect working condition.

Body:  Contoured, solid mahogany body.  Maestro tremolo tailpiece with Gibson & Lyre engravings.  ABR-1 nickel bridge with nylon saddles.  5-ply small black pickguard has warped a little bit & shows some pick scratches, but is in great shape for the most part with no cracks.  Guitar weighs 7 lbs 2.4 oz.

Pickups:  Gibson Pat No humbuckers with chrome covers & black bezels.  Bridge - 8.54K ohms; Neck - 9.19K ohms.  Dual volume & tone controls with black "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch.  Pots date to '65 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.

Case:  Original hardshell case included along with the original instructions for the bridge & pickup adjustments.
