Description
What makes this guitar special: A rare, thinline hollow body made only for a short time from the mid to late '60s. Very similar to the Casino model with dual P-90s, however in lieu of a toggle switch the Caiola offers a series of five on/off switches for various pickup tones. Also there is only single volume & tone controls with a single selector switch between them. The guitar produces a warm, woody acoustic tone & the P-90s sound fantastic. Professionally set up by our luthier with fresh strings & low action, so it plays & sounds amazing!
Cosmetic Condition: Used, but not abused, with typical play wear for a 50 year old guitar - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some finish wear. Overall the guitar has a cool vintage vibe with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Elongated headstock with original Kluson Deluxe tuners in perfect working condition. 1 11/16" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Body: Double-bound, hollow maple body in original sunburst finish. Trapeze tailpiece with Caiola Model plaque. A few of the saddles on the original ABR-1 bridge had worn down so the guitar is currently fitted with a Faber bridge made in Germany, however the original bridge is included with the guitar. Original 3-ply cream pickguard with "E" emblem. The current bracket is a newer replacement, but the original is also included. Unoriginal strap buttons. Guitar weighs 6 lbs 8.2 oz.
Pickups: Original P-90 single coils. The previous owner replaced the original covers with shinier ones, but the originals are included. Master volume & tone controls with gold "top hat" knobs. Pots date to '66 & all electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Unoriginal hardshell case included.
