Description

What makes this guitar special: A really cool late-60s Chet, in completely original condition. This one has been well-loved, and showcases wear consistent with being someone’s go-to. While its looks may be a little rough around the edges, it’s got it where it counts, with a super comfortable rounded neck profile and classic FilterTron humbuckers. While the guitar is very playable as is, it could use some TLC to restore it completely. It has been professionally inspected by our in-house luthier, and will ship in its original hard shell case.

Cosmetic condition: Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, and scuffs, with areas of finish wear and weather checking throughout. The back showcases some buckle rash, and much of the binding has cracked and chipped away. There is crack that extends across the pickguard and visible oxidation on much of the hardware. Frets show wear consistent with age, but still have some life left in them. The original mute has dried out, and the mechanism moves, but doesn’t quite reach the strings. The fingerboard has warped with age, and while a heat treatment fixes the issue temporarily, the wood has a tendency to regress over time-as such this guitar is sold as is.

Body: Double bound semi-hollow maple body in walnut finish with simulated f-holes. Compensated bridge with floating ebony base and Bigsby tremolo tailpiece. Bronze colored pickup bezels and mechanized string mute.

Weight: 8 lb, 3.1 oz

Neck: C-shaped maple neck with red side dots and pearl thumbnail inlays. Bound ebony fingerboard is in good shape and while frets show wear consistent with age, they still have some life in them. 1 11/16” nut width with zero fret. 24.6” scale length. Bound headstock with pearl Gretsch logo and Chet Atkins Country Gentleman badge. Gold Grover tuners work great. Truss rod is functional.

Electronics: Dual FilterTron humbuckers (Neck-4.41k ohms, Bridge-4.53k ohms) with 3-way pickup selector switch, 3-way tone switch, standby switch, and G-Arrow knobs, 2x individual volume, 1x master volume.

Case: Original hard shell case included.
