Description
What makes this bass special: An astounding player's grade, true vintage P-Bass with superb feel & tone. The neck on this one is truly remarkable in every aspect & shows off a beautiful patina. The body was refinished quite some time ago & the original pickups were replaced with DiMarzios. Lightweight & very resonant - all in all it's a true low end rocker with a dynamite sound. Professionally set up & ready to go!
Cosmetic Condition: Cool vintage vibe with some wear - the body was refinished black & shows some weather checking & slight paint chipping near the treble-side neck pocket. Remnants of blue finish can be seen under the black, but it's unknown what the original finish was of the bass. The neck is probably the best part of the bass & is original with signs of normal wear. The front of the headstock has aged nicely into a dark caramel color. There are various minor nicks, dings & surface scratches throughout the bass, but for the most part it's in great shape.
Neck: Nicely rounded maple neck with black side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear. Fender open-back tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. Neck dates to '71 as does the serial number on the plate.
Body: Contoured, solid alder body refinished in black. Top-loading bridge with four adjustable saddles. Bridge cover is missing. Unoriginal 4-ply tortoise pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. No finger/thumb rest & no pickup cover. Bass weighs 8 lbs 10.1 oz - great weight!
Pickup: Unoriginal DiMarzio PAF P-Bass single coil with cream covers. Master volume & tone controls with knurled knobs. Pots are unoriginal & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The outside of the case appears to have been covered in lacquer.
