Description

What makes this guitar special: A gorgeous Beatle bass with a true vintage aesthetic and sound, this 500/1 plays exactly like a vintage Hofner should, with all the characteristics they’re so renowned for. It sports a super comfortable rounded neck profile, at a light weight that makes it ideal for long nights of playing. The easy to navigate electronics are versatile as can be, allowing for anything from punchy ‘60s style tone to low rumble. Not to mention the patina on this one…the finish has checked beautifully, giving it a look that is absolutely stunning. Dating these mid-70s Hofners can be a bit tricky, but based on the black electronics switches, the silver headstock logo and the lack of Hofner stamp on the pickups, we believe it to be a ’74. It’s been professionally setup and inspected by our in-house master luthier, and will arrive packed in the original factory hard shell case.

Cosmetic condition: Great shape for its age, with some standard playwear throughout. Various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs, with weather checking throughout. There is some surface level buckle rash, and some chipping and scuffing in the finish on top of the headstock. The bridge has been fixed to the base. Overall, this one has a fantastic look to it, with a gorgeous patina.

Body: Violin-shaped hollow body with 4-ply bound top & back. Solid spruce arched top, maple sides & flame maple arched back with some really nice figuring in the wood. Trapeze tailpiece, fixed ebony bridge & white pearloid pickguard.

Weight: 4 lb, 13.3 oz

Neck: C-shaped maple neck with black dot markers at the 3rd, 7th, and 12th frets, and pearl dot inlays. Double bound rosewood fingerboard is in marvelous shape, and frets show some wear, but still have life left in them. Silver Hofner logo on the headstock and nickel tuners with matching buttons. 1 9/16” nut width with zero fret, and 30” scale length.

Electronics: Dual “Blade” single coil pickups with black pickup bezels. "Tea cup" volume knobs with Rhythm/Solo, Bass & Treble switches. All electronics are in good working condition.

Case: Unoriginal Epiphone hard shell case included.
