What makes this guitar special: A true vintage, '76 Deluxe in wine red that was signed by the late Stevie Ray Vaughan back in the summer of '87 when he was in town performing at the Wisconsin State Fair. The previous owner had an opportunity to meet Stevie & had his guitar signed in silver marker. Included with the guitar is an old newspaper clipping dated Aug '87 detailing Stevie's performance at the fair. The guitar has been professionally set up by us & stills plays great!
Cosmetic Condition: Typical wear & tear for a nearly 40-year old guitar - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, light buckle rash & some finish wear along the edges. There's a 2 pressed into the back of the headstock, indicating the guitar was a factory second. However, there are no issues with playability or sound quality. The top of the guitar was oversprayed where Stevie signed it in order to preserve it, but that's the only area showing overspray. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a beautiful patina.
Neck: Slender profile, 3-piece maple neck with nicely aged binding & black side-dots. Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Original frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. The guitar previously had Schaller tuners, but the original Deluxes are back on. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition.
Body: Solid mahogany 'sandwich' body with bound maple top. Stopbar tailpiece with Tune-O-Matic bridge & chrome hardware. Single-ply cream pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Guitar weighs 10.35 lbs.
Pickups: Original Gibson mini humbuckers with cream bezels. Bridge - 6.10K ohms; Neck - 6.16K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with original gold 'top hat' knobs; 3-way toggle switch. All pots date to '76 & electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The two bottom latches are broken, but the top work work fine & keep the case closed during transit.
