Description

What makes this mandolin special:  Very rare & ultra cool, true vintage Gibson F-5 mandolin made in Kalamazoo, MI back in '77.  This stunning Master Model F-style is constructed of all solid wood & shows of some gorgeous flame maple figuring in the back of the body & neck.  Aside from the pro refret that was done some time ago, the mandolin is all original & in marvelous shape for its age.  Professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so it's guaranteed to play great straight out of the case!

Cosmetic Condition:  Excellent condition for being nearly 40 years old with honest, light play wear - various minor nicks, dents & dings; surface scratches & some mild finish wear on the neck.  The point that juts out on the treble side of the body had a couple of chips in the edges that were repaired quite some time ago.  There are some pick scratches on the guard.  The gold plating has held up really well, with not much tarnishing.  Overall the mandolin looks fantastic & is in great shape for its age!

Neck:  V-shaped flame maple neck with nicely aged cream binding & black side-dots.  Ebony fingerboard with decorative abalone inlays.  The mandolin was refretted prior to us acquiring it & all the frets are in great shape with no wear.  Bound headstock with mother of pearl "The Gibson" & flower pot inlays.  Gold strip tuners with pearloid buttons in perfect working condition.  1 1/8" nut width; 14" scale length.

Body:  F-style body with scroll.  Solid spruce top with dual F-holes & 3-ply binding.  Gold tailpiece with "The Gibson" engraving & compensated ebony bridge.  3-ply tortoise pickguard is in great shape with no cracks.  Solid maple back & sides with 3-ply binding.  Both the top & back are arched & the whole mandolin is finished in a beautiful two-tone sunburst.  There is no pickup & the mandolin weighs 2 lbs 6.1 oz.

Case:  Original hardshell case included - also in great shape!
