Description

What makes this guitar special: Recently acquired from the family of the original owner, and in terrific shape. Smooth playability up and down the length of the fingerboard, with a comfortable slim-tapered neck feel, and a tremendous natural acoustic resonance that translates beautifully when amplified. This one appears to have been played for a spell, and then put away for an extended period of time, showcasing far less wear than normal for a 40 year old guitar. Professionally inspected and setup by the experts at Cream City Music, it will arrive ready to play!

Cosmetic condition: Terrific shape for its age, with some light wear & tear. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, and scuffs present, with visible finish checking on the body and pickwear on the guard. The back of the headstock is marked “second”, and there is an unusual area of wear in the finish on the back of the neck behind the 12th fret. It looks as though an unsafe solvent was used to polish a spot, which reacted with the finish. This doesn’t affect playability, however it is slightly raised to the touch. The hardware shows some very minor tarnishing, and the binding has aged to a cream color in areas. Overall, this one has a great look to it, with an honest vintage patina.

Body: Double bound semi-hollow maple body in wine red finish with dual f-holes. 5-ply black pickguard and black pickup bezels. Tune-O-Matic bridge and chrome trapeze tailpiece.

Weight: 8 lb, 5.1 oz

Neck: Slim-tapered 3 piece maple neck with black side dots and pearl block inlays. Black headstock overlay with pearl Gibson logo and crown. Original Gibson tuners with tulip buttons work great. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. The nut has been replaced with a freshly cut bone nut, done in house by our luthier. Original nut is in the case. Rosewood fingerboard is in terrific shape, and while frets show some light wear, they have a ton of life left in them. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional. Intonation is perfect, and the guitar plays beautifully up and down the length of the entire board.

Electronics: Gibson Patent No. embossed humbuckers (Neck-7.45k ohms, Bridge-7.45k ohms) with 3-way pickup selector and black witch hat knobs, 2x tone, 2x volume.

Case: Period correct hard shell case included. Case has been through the ringer and shows tearing in the tolex and oxidation on most of the case latches. The original warranty paperwork and truss rod wrench are included.
