Description
What makes this guitar special: A great-playing ‘70s Strat with a classic vibe, and killer tone. A previous owner “Gilmour’d” this one, swapping the original pickup covers and knobs for white replacements, which along with the maple neck makes this Strat look quite a bit like the one David Gilmour famously played. The pickups have also been upgraded to Fender Custom Shop Josefina Campos single coils (a new set costs upwards of $400!), which sound fantastic! Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, this beauty will arrive ready to play out of the case.
Cosmetic condition: A great player with a true vintage vibe-there are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present, with areas of finish wear and finish checking throughout. The fingerboard edges show discoloration from years of playing, and frets show wear consistent with age, but still have life left in them. The tuners are modern reproductions, and there are holes drilled from a previous set of tuners. The pickguard is not original, and the pickups have been changed as well. The back of the body shows visible buckle rash, and there are a handful of areas of discoloration visible in the finish on the body from years of playing (presumably smoke residue). There are a few small wear spots on the fingerboard (most notably at the 11th fret), and much of the hardware showcases oxidation and/or tarnishing. Overall, this one has a true players vibe to it, with a gorgeous patina.
Body: Contoured double cutaway alder body in black finish. 3-ply black replacement pickguard with white pickup covers and control knobs. String-through hardtail bridge with individually adjustable saddles.
Weight: 9 lb, on the dot!
Neck: Comfortable U-shaped maple neck with black side dots and black dot inlays. Contemporary reproduction F-stamped tuners work great. 1 5/8” nut width, 25 1/2" scale length. Maple fingerboard shows some wear, but is in overall good shape. Frets show wear consistent with age, but still have life in them-all notes ring clear up and down the length of the fingerboard. Neck heel dates to ’78. Neck is straight and bullet truss rod works great.
Electronics: Replacement Fender Custom Shop Josefina Campos single coil pickups (Bridge-6.29k ohms, Middle-6.20k ohms, Neck-6.44k ohms) with 5-way pickup selector switch and white skirted knobs, 2x tone, 1x volume. Pots date to ’78 and all electronics work great.
Case: Original hard shell case included.
