Description

What makes this guitar special: Ah, the ‘70s. A time when forced ingenuity trumped conventional wisdom and gave us amazing instruments like this one. Like the line of electric guitars, these bass guitars feature active preamp circuitry designed by Moog, long before Moog exploded into the marketplace. This preamp combined with bulletproof all-maple construction makes for a white hot explosion of in-your-face tone, with enough versatility to play just about any genre, as long as that genre is rock. This one was well-loved and used as a go-to for many years and is ready to serve its next owner well, with a super comfortable chunky neck and great weight distribution, well suited for long nights of playing. It’s been professionally inspected and setup by the experts at Cream City Music, and will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: Just the way we like ‘em, with all kinds of wear and tear throughout. Various scratches, dents, nicks, dings, chips, scuffs, and areas of finish wear throughout. Expected finish checking throughout, with numerous sweatstains along the fingerboard and fingerboard edges, and buckle rash on the back of the body. There is visible hanger rash on the underside of the headstock, and a small crack in the wood near the E string tuner (see photo). A few of the screws for the back electronics panel are missing, and there are a couple cracks in the pickguard. The frets are pretty well worn, but all notes intonate properly and ring clear up and down the length of the fingerboard. Overall, this one has a great look to it, with a gorgeous patina.

Body: Solid maple body with 5-ply black pickguard. String-through body with die-cast 4 saddle bridge.

Weight: 11 lb, 8 oz

Neck: Chunky maple neck with black side dots and pearl dot inlays. Black headstock overlay with pearl Gibson logo and intricate pearl headstock inlay. 1 5/8” nut width, 34” scale length. Original open gear Gibson tuners function perfectly. Fingerboard shows wear consistent with age, as do frets, but all notes ring clear, and it plays beautifully up and down the length of the instrument. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional.

Electronics: Dual humbucking pickups with Moog active circuitry, 3-way pickup selector switch, and black speed knobs, 2x tone, 2x volume. Dual mini-toggles for adjustable brightness and compression.

Case: Gigbag included.
