Description
It seems like every time we get a black Fender in the shop, it sells immediately. We're pretty sure it'll be the same case with this ultra cool '72 P-Bass. All the right wear with an authentic vintage vibe that just cannot be duplicated in any custom shop. Everything you would expect from a true vintage beauty - warm, rich tones & a perfectly shaped maple neck that feels super comfy & has a tight connection with the body. And it's light weight too! These tend not to last long in the shop so don't hesitate to pick this beauty up today!
Cosmetic Condition: This was someone's go-to bass & it shows, with an ultra cool vintage vibe - lots of nicks, chips, dents & dings; scratches, weather checking & finish wear. The front of the headstock has aged into a dark caramel color & the finish is completely gone off the back of the neck. There's a "ghosting" image in the finish underneath the bridge where a previous Badass had been, but the original is now back on. Overall the bass has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Nicely rounded maple neck with black dot inlays. Original small frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Original open-back nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 9/16" nut width; 34" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. Neck stamp reads 5 MAY 72 B.
Body: Contoured, solid alder body finished in original Custom Black. Top-loading bridge with four adjustable "barrel" saddles. 3-ply white pickguard has aged nicely into more of a cream color & still has its original black finger rest. There's a small chip in the pickguard down by the input jack. Bass weighs 8 lbs 6.3 oz - great weight! The bridge & pickup covers are missing.
Electronics: Original grey bottom single coil pickup - 10.75K ohms. Master volume & tone controls with knurled knobs. Pots date to '71 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
Case: Unoriginal Road Runner hardshell case included.
