Description

What makes this guitar special: For a 65+ year old guitar, this National is still in great shape and boasts tons of mid-century charm. Acoustically, it has a warm and mild projection that is perfectly conveyed in amplification as well, thanks to the magnetic pickup in the neck that outputs similar warm and dark tonal qualities. The neck appears to have a gloss finish, but due to the wear over the years, it feels much closer to satin with low friction and a low profile that allows for very easy movement. Aesthetically, it has a ton of charm from its light brown burst and cream binding to the finish checking that cements its identity as a timeless vintage piece. In addition, it includes a chipboard case and a professional setup so it maintains the best playability possible before reaching its new owner.

Condition: This guitar is in good condition overall, if not better. It does show various nicks, dings, dents, chips, finish checking, binding cracks and chips, and various other forms of mild wear, but considering its over 65 years old, it’s still in great shape structurally and sounds and plays the same. The frets show only light to mild wear and still have a good amount of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable. Due to the fact that there is no adjustable truss rod and the bridge is about as low as it can go, the action plays more like an acoustic than an electric. Missing pickguard. The piezo pickup is non-functioning.

Body: Hollow body with arched laminate top and maple back and sides in Sunburst finish. Multi-ply top and back binding. Wood-based adjustable bridge with built-in piezo pickup and stepped trapeze tailpiece with f-hole. White plastic chicken head control knobs. Unbound F-holes.

Neck: Slim to medium depth D shape mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with triple-split parallelogram inlays. Sealed National 3-per-side tuning machines with white buttons. 1 11/16” nut width. 25” scale length. .89” deep at the 1st fret.

Electronics: Two exposed-pole magnetic pickup in the bridge and a piezo bridge pickup that is non-functioning. 2 x volume controls.

Weight: 6 lbs 15.3 oz

Playability/Sound: The worn finish on a slim neck moves surprisingly fast and is should be a familiar and comfortable shape to most electric players. The pickup is warm and round with excellent mid-range pluckiness that is accentuated by its hollow body.

Case: Includes chipboard case.
