What makes this guitar special? This late ‘60s Hofner 500/2 Club Bass is an undeniable gem. The neck and back have great flame maple figuring, and the finish and binding have aged beautifully, giving it a perfectly weathered look. The pickups and body produce a warm, round, and woody tone, full of thumpy vintage vibe to match its aesthetic. With its various dings and dents, it proves its tenure with vintage charm. This bass plays exceptionally well for its age and the in-hand resonance while playing will surely bring pleasure to anyone who gets the chance to play it.
Condition: This Hofner Club Bass is in very good condition overall and considering its age, still plays and resonates beautifully. It does have most things that come with such age like finish checking, scratches, nicks, dings, and dents, but more than anything, this only adds to the vintage charm this bass possesses. It is missing the pickguard but the only major marks are the two small screw holes where it used to be mounted. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should. The frets show very little wear and still have a ton of life left in them.
Body: Cream/white bound single cutaway hollow body with a spruce top and maple back and sides in Sunburst finish. Ebony bridge and trapeze tailpiece.
Neck: 2-piece maple neck with medium round profile, bound rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlays. Open-gear tuning machines with ivoroid buttons. 1-1/2” nut.
Electronics: Hofner blade pickups in the neck and bridge. Volume 1, Volume 2, Rhythm/Solo switch, Bass On/Off switch, Treble On/Off switch.

Playability/Sound: This is an absolutely outstanding bass. The neck is nice and round and is very comfortable to move around. Between the hollow body and blade pickups, the tone is genuine and woody with mild sustain and a whole lot of character. It weighs in under 5 lbs and feels great sitting or standing.
