Description
What makes this guitar special: A 70-year old beauty with a super cool vintage vibe. All original & constructed of all solid wood, this gorgeous L-4 feels & sounds absolutely amazing - a big neck with big tone! Professionally inspected & set up by the experts at Cream City Music, so she's ready to play straight out of the case!
Cosmetic Condition: Pretty good shape actually considering the guitar is seven decades old. Various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & some rusty hardware & light finish wear. There's a pretty good sized chip out of the back of the headstock laminate on the treble side, but this is purely cosmetic & does not affect playability or sound quality. The guitar was previously fitted with a DeArmond floating pickup & so the pickguard has a small route on the bass side. The guard is also showing some signs of deterioration in the celluloid, but for the most part it's in good shape & has held up well over the years. All in all the guitar has a wonderful, true vintage look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Beefy & nicely rounded flame maple neck with cream binding & tortoise side-dots. Beautiful dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays. Original frets are in great shape with minimal wear. Mother of pearl Fleur-de-lis & Gibson script logo. Open-back nickel tuners with cream buttons in good working condition. 1 3/4" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & plays great up & down the fretboard.
Body: Solid spruce top with 3-ply binding & dual F-holes. Trapeze tailpiece with compensated rosewood bridge & bound tortoise pickguard. Solid maple sides & back with 3-ply binding. The back shows off lovely flame figuring in the maple. There is no pickup & the guitar weighs 5 lbs 10 oz.
Case: Original tweed hardshell case included. The case is a bit rough on the outside with some tears in the tweed & slight damage to the lid, but for the most part is in good shape & serves its purpose well.
