Description

What makes this guitar special: A powerhouse D-28, with a fantastic full-bodied sound, brilliant resonance, and breathtaking projection. The Brazilian Rosewood construction has opened up beautifully, and provides an outstanding tonal balance- offering clarity across the entire sonic spectrum. Just a few strums on this one will show you how special it is. Professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, this piece will arrive ready to play out of the case.

Condition: Used but not abused, with some standard playwear throughout. There are various scratches, dents, dings, nicks, and scuffs present, with notable finish wear and finish cracking on the back of the neck. The pickguard has been replaced, and the body was oversprayed when this was done. A previous owner had Martin install a FRAP pickup system, which has since been removed. However, there are two small holes in the body as a result, one on the bass side next to the neck heel, and the other on the treble side where the input jack was mounted. There is also the remnant of the battery holder inside, which we chose to leave in to prevent from damaging the wood. This doesn’t affect the sound at all. The bridge plate has been replaced. The neck has been refretted with medium fretwire, so the neck still maintains its vintage feel. Overall, this one has a tremendous sound to it, with a terrific vintage patina.

Body: Double bound solid Brazilian Rosewood back & sides, with solid Sitka Spruce top in natural finish. Multi-ring rosette and replacement black pickguard. Ebony bridge with bone saddles and white bridge pins.

Weight: 4 lb, 14.1 oz

Neck: Chunky V-shaped solid mahogany neck with aged white side dots and pearl dot inlays. 1 11/16” nut width, 25.4” scale length. Rounded peghead with factory Grover tuners and gold CF Martin logo. Ebony fingerboard is in terrific shape, and the neck has been refretted. Frets have plenty of life left in them. Neck is straight and plays beautifully up and down the length of the fingerboard.

Case: Early ‘70s Blue Martin case included. All of the FRAP components are included in the case.
