Description
What makes this bass special: All original & a true road warrior just dripping with vintage mojo! This bass looks like it's seen it all - with lots of wear to show for it. Despite its less than stellar appearance, it has a super cool vibe thanks to the previous owner's folk art work. Great feel & tone thanks to a pro set up from the experts at Cream City Music.
Cosmetic Condition: Ultra cool look with lots of play wear - various, nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, buckle rash, heavy weather checking & some finish wear. The previous owner did some folk art treatment to the bass, as evidenced by remnants of flowers & rhinestones throughout the instrument. The pickguard has aged - yellowed over time, shrunk & cracked in a few spots. It too was decorated like the rest of the bass & still shows some colored drawings - they appear to be butterflies & diamonds, along with a row of silver dots around the edges. The Competition stripes are still present, but show quite a bit wear as well. Overall the bass has a truly one-of-a-kind look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Nicely rounded, B-shape maple neck with beautiful rosewood fingerboard & mother of pearl dot inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Fender tuners with chrome oval buttons in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 30" scale length. Neck stamp reads 17 MAR 69 B.
Body: Contoured, solid alder body finished in red with Competition stripes. String-thru bridge with four adjustable barrel saddles. 3-ply white pickguard & black finger rest. Bass weighs 7 lbs 11.7 oz.
Pickups: Split single coils with black covers. Pickups date to '68. Master volume & tone controls - both pots date to '66. All electronics are in good working condition.
Case: Original hardshell case included. The case is a bit rough with some damage to the right side clasp area. The wood has cracked & a few of the rivets that hold the clasp are loose, but everything is there & is still holding together. There are some floral decals on the outside of the case & the handle has been changed. In short, the condition of the case is consistent with the bass.
