Description

What makes this guitar special: A very cool player’s grade USA Hamer, made in their heyday, with outstanding fit & finish and terrific playability. The neck carve is spectacular and comfortable, somewhere between a medium C and a medium D, trending thinner as you near the upper register. This allows for effortless access to the upper register, and smooth playability up and down the length of the entire fingerboard. A previous owner modded this one with a very early Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge position, with an added 3-way coil tap. This allows for plenty of tonal versatility, and a broad array of useful sounds. This piece has been professionally inspected and setup by our expert in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play.

Cosmetic condition: Definitely used, but not abused, with various signs of playwear. There are scratches, dents, dings, nicks, chips, and scuffs present throughout, with some notable chipping on top of the headstock and visible tarnishing on the hardware. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a vintage Seymour Duncan JB humbucker, and a 3-way coil tap was added, for which a hole was drilled in the top. There is visible ghosting on the back of the body from a sticker that has since been removed, and the frets show wear consistent with the age of the instrument. Strap buttons are not original, nor is one of the set screws for the back plate.

Body: Double cutaway solid mahogany body with bound maple top in cherry finish. Cream colored pickup bezels and string-through six saddle bridge.

Weight: 8 lb, 8.1 oz

Neck: Medium C/D shaped solid mahogany neck with pearl side dots and pearl dot inlays. Black headstock overlay with white Hamer logo. Chrome sealed Schaller tuners work great. 1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4" scale length. Rosewood fingerboard is in great shape, and while frets show wear they still have some life in them. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional.

Electronics: Original DiMarzio zebra humbucker in the neck position, with replacement vintage Seymour Duncan JB humbucker in the bridge. 3-way pickup selector switch and black tophat knobs, 2x volume, 1x tone. 3-way mini toggle controls the bridge humbucker (forward is both coils, middle is off, back is split).

Case: Original hard shell case included.
