Description: 1938 Vintage Bacon & Day Sultana Silver Bell No.1 Tenor Banjo
Condition: Very good. Various light surface scratches and small nicks and dings throughout the instrument. Metal parts have some light blemishes in areas. Fingerboard and frets have light play wear. All parts are original and in perfect working condition.
Body: 11” diameter natural calf skin head with 24 lugs on a nickel tension hoop, Nickel arm rest, Oettinger finger-style tailpiece, pearloid pickguard and a PAT PEND. B&D Soft Pedal knee mute. Side of pot has pearloid covering. Single wood coordinator rod and an angled no-hole tone ring. Pearloid covered resonator with multiple concentric rings. The wood coordinator rod has the following indented: “Made by the Bacon Banjo Co. Inc. Groton, Conn USA. B&D Silver Bell No.1”.
Neck: Maple neck with beautiful flame figuring on back. Bound pearloid covered fingerboard with fancy inlays and neck heel. Pearloid covered front and back of headstock with nickel Grover friction tuners and a 1 1/8” nut. 23” scale length.
Set Up: Professionally set up with light gauge tenor banjo strings.
Weight: 9lbs, 3.5oz.
Playability/Sound: This is a very comfortable, great sounding banjo. The sound is full, crisp and has a nicely accentuated high end. The neck is very comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
Case: Includes original hardshell case.
