Description

What makes this guitar special: This Silvertone 1444 Bass is a timeless piece of bass guitar design that is also in fantastic shape for a 50+ year old instrument. Due to its unique construction and single lipstick pickup, the tone of this bass begins with a full, thumpy low end, punchy mids and responsive high end frequencies. Yet, it has the classic woody character associated semi-hollow and hollow body instruments. Aesthetically, outside of the normal scratches, nicks, and dings from over 5 decades of use, this bass is in great shape and plays the same.

Condition: The bass is in very good condition, especially considering it is nearly 60 years old. It does possess scratches, dings, and dents throughout the body from over 5 decades of being played, but is still one of the cleanest examples to have come through our shop. The neck has the proper amount of relief and still plays great. The frets show light wear and still have a ton of life left in them.

Body: Masonite and pine single-cutaway semi-solid body. Trapezoidal bridge with rosewood saddle. Clear pickguard.

Neck: Medium thickness Bolt-on poplar neck w/ rounded profile (.81” at the 1st fret, .85” at the 12th fret). 24 fret rosewood fretboard with white dot inlays. Slivertone badge. Nickel sealed gear tuning machines. 1-5/8” nut width. 29-1/2” scale length.

Electronics: Single lipstick pickup in the neck. Master volume, Master tone.

Neck: 3.47k Ohms

Weight: 6 lbs 4.9 oz

Playability/Sound: This is a killer sounding bass with some thump in the low end, punch in the mids, and great responsiveness in the highs. It has mild sustain and a good amount of woody character most notably found in semi-hollow and hollow body instruments. The neck is slim and easy to move around and the action is quite favorable for most bass players.

Case: Includes original chipboard case.
