Description

What makes this guitar special: This is a killer 1960 Melody Maker by all accounts. First of all, it’s still in fantastic shape for being over 65 years old and shows only bits of light playwear throughout. Second, the pickup makes it all worthwhile. It is loaded with tons of vintage jangle and a tiny bit of grit that gives it a perfectly crispy response. The slim body weighs in under six pounds, making it just as comfortable to play sitting as it is standing. This model hails from only the second year of production, giving it some serious history as well, especially for one that’s still all original.

Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall, especially considering it’s over 65 years old. It does show various nicks, dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, and other forms of light playwear throughout, but is still in fantastic shape for its age. The frets show only light wear and still have a ton of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and plays great top to bottom. The truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Slim single-cutaway mahogany body in Sunburst finish. Single-ply black pickguard. Gold top hat control knobs. Nickel wraparound bridge/tailpiece.

Neck: Medium depth C shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. 3-in-line open-gear tuning machines with cream plastic buttons. 1 11/16” nut width. 24.75” scale.

Electronics: Melody Maker single-coil pickup in the bridge. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control.

Bridge: 6.84k Ohms

Weight: 5 lbs 15.5 oz

Playability/Sound: The C shape neck is very easy to move around and should be an easy transition for most players. The single-coil in this guitar sound absolutely awesome and is chock-full of vintage grit and jangle.

Case: Includes original chipboard case.
