Description

What makes this guitar special: Uniquely modified but with a ton of vintage vibe, this player’s piece Gretsch Corvette has a lot of all-around character. It comes loaded with two Japanese HiLo’Tron pickups that still deliver the classic low output jangle of the original 60s, complete with their distinct tone. The original body has been routed to accommodate a second pickup, providing a bit more range than the standard single pickup version. The neck has a nice full in-hand feel that plays easily at length. At six-and-a-half pounds with a slim body, its nice and light which makes for easy playing either sitting or standing. Even though it’s refinished, the color and work look great and still give it a solid vintage vibe and help bring the price down into a range that exploratory players can get into. It’s perfect for a project piece that only need minor touchups and fixes, but is still perfectly playable as is as well.

Condition: This guitar is in good condition overall. It shows only various minor nicks, dings, dents, light surface scratches and other forms of light play wear, but is still in great shape for its age. At some point during its life it was refinished, but the work is pretty convincing and still looks great. The body was routed for a second (bridge) pickup. Pickups and electronics have been replaced but are in solid working order. The truss rod cover was mounted without a proper third screw hole (bottom right). There is finish cracking around the neck. The frets are worn down a bit, but are still even and still play pretty well. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should.

Body: Double cutaway offset mahogany body refinished in Brown. Two-ply black pickguard. Gretsch G Arrow control knobs (one replaced at some point). Unoriginal height-adjustable bridge. Trapeze tailpiece.

Neck: Medium depth C shape mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Vintage-style open-gear tuning machines with oblong white plastic buttons. 1 5/8” nut width. 24.75” scale. .88” deep at 1st fret and .86” deep at the 12th.

Electronics: Unoriginal modern-era Japanese HiLo’Tron pickups and electronics. 1 x master tone, 2 x volume controls. 3-way pickup selector.

Neck: 3.49k Ohms

Bridge: 4.03k Ohms

Weight: 6 lbs 8.5 oz

Playability/Sound: The chunkier C shape neck has a nice full in-hand feel that most players who like a little extra heft will appreciate, yet easy enough for C and modern C players to have no issues either.

Case: Includes gig bag.
