Description

What makes this guitar special: This is one unique guitar to say the absolute least. Coming out of the heyday of the of the mid-60s, this Framus Strato de Luxe captures the experimental essence of the era by incorporating individually selectable pickups, multiple tone configurations for each pickup, and a spring-loaded “organ tone” knob specifically designed to perform volume swells. Put all of that capability into a guitar as visually interesting as this one, and you have an instrument that screams vintage vibe and character.

Condition: The guitar is in very good shape overall. There are only light surface scratches, small nicks, dings, and chips, tarnishing to the gold hardware, and some mild weather checking, but all in all, this guitar is in amazingly great shape for being over 50 years old! The original frets do show some light play wear, but have a considerable amount of life left. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions just as it should. As a note, the seam where the headstock meets the neck is not flush. There is no sign of fracture or cracking, but it is possible to feel the seam.

Body: Double cutaway contoured body in Sunburst finish. Brass control plates. Single-ply pickguard. Covered bridge with adjustable saddles, a throw mute, and a vibrato tailpiece. Cream top hat style knobs with gold inserts. Brass throw control with curved arm.

Neck: Slim C shape hardwood neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays. Brass bubble tuning machines with white triangular buttons. 1 9/16” nut width and zero fret. .83” deep at the 1st fret and .86” deep at the 12th.

Electronics: Framus brass-covered single-coil pickups. 3 x on/off pickup switches. 1 x on/off organ switch, 1 x on/off tone effect switch for the neck, and 1 x on/off tone effect switch for the bridge. 3 x tone controls, one for each pickup. 1 x master volume control. 1 x organ control knob.

Weight: 8 lbs 14 oz

Playability/Sound: The slim profile neck profile plays great top to bottom and should be easy to play for most modern players, plus boasts a smaller nut width which is perfect for players who have smaller hands or like extended reach over the fingerboard (great for thumb wraparounds). The pickups have a very interesting voice. They are full of vintage vibe, with a ton of jangle and a warm, rounded midrange.

Case: Includes original hard shell case and tremolo arm.
