Description
What makes this guitar special? This model is the first solid body released by Guild and therefore holds a special place in the brand’s history. This guitar has a load of character from its unique vibrato system to the early-era single-coil pickup. The body has been refinished in what we’re calling Trans Green, but is pretty close to the limited released “Silver Fox” finish on similar era Epiphones. Either way, rest assured it will likely be one of a kind in that regard and one that definitely provides a killer complement to and expression of the natural figuring underneath (see close-up photo of the back). This is an all-around awesome guitar and no doubt a sleeper that tends to fall below a lot of radars, especially at this price.
Condition: Overall, this guitar is in very good condition. It does have various nicks, dings, dents, and scratches throughout the body, but largely remains in great shape and sounds and plays the same. The frets show only light-medium wear and still have a lifetime left in them. The truss rod functions as it should. The pots are dated 1965, so we are calling it a ’65.
Body: Offset double cutaway mahogany body refinished in Trans Green. 4-ply black pickguard. Adjustable metal bridge/vibrato tailpiece.
Neck: Mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlays. Open-gear tuning machines. 1 11/16” nut width.
Electronics: Single-coil pickup in the middle. 1 x volume, 1 x tone control.
Middle: 5.39 Ohms
Weight: 6 lbs 2.3 oz
Playability/Sound: The tone of this guitar is wonderfully warm, with a little genuine woody character and some single-coil twang. The slim neck plays extremely easy nut to cutaway and the unique vibrato system has surprisingly good control.
Case: No case included.
