Description

What makes this guitar special: This is a fantastic copy of a famous American-made bass from the lawsuit era. Most of the characteristic elements the original is known for are pretty-well copied by this one, including everything from the body shape to the inlays, binding, hardware and even color. Although they look quite a bit different, the pickups have a lot of the inherent tonal aspects of the originals, including great low end thump, mild sustain, and the woody character that makes them so identifiable. If that wasn’t enough, the natural figuring of the body wood looks absolutely incredible on the back, with big sweeping waves that crest dead center and create an optical illusion that looks like a bulging body.

Condition: This bass is in very good condition overall, if not better. It does have various small dings, dents, nicks, scuffs, chips, scratches and other forms of wear like a few spots of discoloration, but still remains very clean, especially for a 40 year old instrument. The frets show only light wear and still have a considerable amount of playing time left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions.

Body: Double cutaway offset body in Cherry Sunburst finish. Checkered top binding. Single-ply white pickguard. Treble-mounted finger rest. Black control knobs with silver inserts. Fixed adjustable bridge with dampening system (screw missing from the E string saddle).

Neck: Medium depth C shape maple neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with triangle inlays. 1 11/16” nut width. 34” scale. Open-gear tuning machines with clover keys.

Electronics: Ibanez proprietary pickups in the neck and bridge. 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. 3-way pickup selector.

Weight: 9 lbs 2 oz

Playability/Sound: The neck on this bass plays fantastic from the nut all the way up into the cutaway thanks to its familiar shape and easy overall profile. The pickups are surprisingly convincing for a copy. They still have the traditional low end punch, mild sustain, and woody character of the bass they are attempting to emulate, yet are slightly rounder with a little different character.

Case: Includes hardshell case.
