Description
This guitar is fresh out of a collection we just purchased. The owner was an employee at Gibson during the 70s-80s, who obtained it directly from the factory. It has been cased & unplayed for over 30 years. We've had many Les Paul Heritage models over the years, and seen hundreds more at guitar shows during that time. This is the first and only one we've seen with a legitimate prototype stamp on the back of the headstock. This a rare opportunity to own one of the first, if not THE first LP Heritage of its kind.
Cosmetic Condition: Superb condition - exceptionally clean & a definite time capsule piece. The guitar has been in storage since birth & is museum quality. There is one small scratch in the bass-side waist & a very tiny ding in the top. Aside from that the guitar is perfect.
Neck: Standard profile mahogany neck with cream binding & black side-dots. Beautiful, dark rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Frets are in perfect condition. Nickel Grover Rotomatic tuners are in perfect working condition. There is a number 3 pressed into the back of the headstock just under the serial number. In addition to the 3 there is another stamp stating this is an Original Gibson Prototype. 1 11/16" nut width; 24 3/4" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid mahogany body with a highly quilted maple top that is absolutely stunning! Stopbar tailpiece & Tune-O-Matic bridge with chrome hardware. Single-ply cream pickguard & cream top binding. Guitar weighs 10.25 lbs.
Pickups: Gibson humbuckers with chrome covers & cream bezels. Bridge - 7.96K ohms; Neck - 7.59K ohms. Dual volume & tone controls with amber "top hat" knobs; 3-way toggle switch & nickel jackplate. Pots date to '79. All electronics are original & in perfect working condition.
Case: Original deluxe hardshell case with a tooled tolex exterior - very nice indeed!
