Description

Condition: This is a great example of an early model G&L F-100 guitar! There is some “pitting” in the finish throughout the entire body. It is most heavy and prominent on the lower bass side bout and was likely caused by chemical reaction. There are scratches, nicks, dings, dents, some tiny chips and weather checking throughout the guitar. There are some heavier pick scratches on the treble side of the body on top and some blemishing/corrosion on some of the metal parts. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear with some heavier play wear in the lower register frets. Frets still have plenty of life left in them. The neck is very straight overall with a very slight warp towards the nut mostly on the treble side. The neck is still perfectly playable and the truss rod functions fine. There are some small areas on the neck that are a chemical reaction between the lacquer and a guitar hanger. The edge of the headstock near the tuners has some light weathering (see photos). All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.

Body: Solid contoured double-cutaway body in Candy Apple Red finish. G&L bridge with string-through-body design and six individual saddles. Metal control plate with knurled controls knobs and three selector switches.

Neck: Three-bolt maple neck with neck tilt adjustment. Rich Ebony fingerboard with beautiful variegation in the grain, pearloid dot inlays and a 1 5/8” nut. Vintage nickel Schaller tuners, 25.5” : MFD Humbuckers in the neck, and bridge with master volume control, master tone control, bass control, phase switch and a coil split switch. When phase switch is in the out of phscale length.

Pickups/Electronics: MFD Humbuckers in the neck, and bridge with master volume control, master tone control, bass control, phase switch and a coil split switch. When phase switch is in the out of phase position (towards the nut), it overrides the pickup selector and both pickups are on. This also reduces bass content. When the lead pickup is engaged and the guitar is “in-phase”, the treble control does not function. These are all factory designs and original to the guitar.

Neck: 6.97K Ohms.

Bridge: 6.85K Ohms.

Weight: 8lbs, oz.

Playability/Sound: The MFD humbuckers sound exceptional and the coil tapping and phase switches really allow the player to dial in a multitude of useful sounds. The slender neck is extremely comfortable and suitable for any playing style.

Case: Includes original hardshell case. The case has typical signs of use (scratches, scuffs, small tears throughout the tolex and some rust and corrosion on the latches). The case is in good overall shape.
