Description
What makes this guitar special: Clean, great-sounding and easy-playing, this mid-80s Carvin is a well-rounded semi-hollow body. It features fantastic cuts of curly maple throughout, all of which show excellent figuring, especially the back with wild and concentric waves of its natural grain. Its M22 humbuckers sound great in both positions with big, bold, and warm output with the added ability to coil-tap thanks to two easy-access mini-toggle switches, providing both a solid range of humbucker and single-coil sounds. It also has a stereo output so each pickup can be split to a different signal chain, increasing the tonal possibilities tenfold. The neck plays easy and the body is still super clean, providing great value on top of coming with its original hardshell case and the professional setup it ships with.
Condition: This guitar is in very good condition overall. It shows only a few minor dings here and there as well as light surface scratches throughout, and is still in fantastic shape for a 30-year-old guitar. The frets show only light wear and still have a full lifetime of playing left in them. The neck is comfortable and the truss rod functions as it should. One of the mounts that holds the handle on has a broken support, but the handle still works just fine and should be a relatively easy fix for someone handy.
Body: Double cutaway, double-bound semi-hollow body with light curly maple sides and arched top and back in Natural finish. Solid maple center block. Kahler adjustable tremolo bridge. Raised 5-ply black pickguard. Black witch hat control knobs with silver inserts.
Neck: Slim D shape hard rock maple neck and ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays. Schaller tuning machines. 1 11/16” brass nut. 24.75” scale length. .78” deep at the 1st fret and .93” deep at the 12th.
Electronics: M22 humbucking pickups. 2 x volume, 2 x tone controls. 3-way pickup selector. Stereo output. Coil-tap switches and phase switch.
Weight: 7 lbs 3.3 oz
Playability/Sound: The slim D shape neck plays near-effortlessly and should be an easy and familiar adjustment for most players. The M22 humbuckers are big, warm, and chunky, and with the ability to coil-tap them, you can also exploit just as many great single-coil sounds as well.
Case: Includes original hardshell case and tremolo arm.
