Description
What makes this guitar special: An outstanding example of Fender's early vintage reissue series. This gorgeous '57 Strat was manufactured in 1986, right at the transition period when production shifted from Fullerton to Corona. This guitar is not a Custom Shop Relic - all the wear & tear you see was legitimately done by the previous owner, who absolutely loved playing it. The only modification is the selector switch. which was swapped to a 5-way, however, the original 3-way is still included & can easily be put back to full original spec. It's obvious the guitar was well-crafted, with a tight neck/body connection & superb attention to detail. A trio of single coils deliver that instantly recognizable iconic sound, producing clear, bell-like tones & marvelous sustain. Professionally inspected by the experts at Cream City Music & set up by our own master luthier, so it plays & sounds fantastic!
Cosmetic Condition: This was the previous owner's "go to" guitar & it shows - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches, weather checking & finish wear. Fender's Custom Shop does a great job of "relic-ing" guitars, but this one is legit - all done by a guy who loved to play his guitar for the last 30 years. Overall it has a wonderful look to it with a gorgeous patina.
Neck: Rounded profile maple neck with black dot inlays & 7.25" radius fingerboard. Frets show some wear, but still have plenty of life in them. Small headstock with "spaghetti" logo. Vintage-style tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 5/8" nut width; 25 1/2" scale length. Neck is straight & truss rod is in good working condition. Neck date reads 8/9/86.
Body: Contoured, solid two-piece ash body finished in two-tone sunburst. Vintage-style tremolo bridge with adjustable saddles. Original trem arm & bridge cover are included. Single-ply white pickguard is in great shape with no cracks & has aged nicely into more of a cream color. Guitar weighs 7 lbs 6.4 oz.
Pickups: Original single coils with staggered poles. Bridge - 5.97K ohms; Middle - 5.98K ohms; Neck - 5.92K ohms. Master volume & dual tone controls with white skirted knobs. The guitar is currently fitted with a 5-way selector switch, but the original 3-way is included. Pots date to '86 & all electronics are in perfect working condition.
